Philips GoGear Muse 3 MP3 player hits the shops

The Apple iPod has dominated the MP3 market for years, but that hasn’t stopped other manufacturers from releasing their own gadgets The Philips GoGear Muse 3 is the latest to take on the iPod, and features an innovative equaliser feature for getting the best out of your songs. Read on to find out more.

The Philips GoGear Muse 3 is an MP3 player with a 3.2-inch screen. It features either 8GB or 16GB of storage space, plus there’s also a microSD slot for adding more storage or for swapping playlists on the go.

Philips hopes that the GoGear Muse 3 will stand out from rivals by virtue of its innovative equaliser system. It’s certainly unlike any we’ve seen before – which usually tend to feature meaningless numbers or virtual knobs to twiddle. With the GoGear, you’ll be able to tap the screen and drag your finger around, searching for the perfect spot.

It’s similar to picking the exact hue from a colour palette – and you’ll be able to pick from Powerful, Sparkling, Warm and Cool. How easy it proves to pick the perfect balance remains to be seen though.
This brushed aluminium wonder costs either £110 or £140 depending on storage, and you’ll be able to play back FLAC, APE lossless, MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vorbis files and more. There’s also a radio built-in
