Stylish 3D glasses finally available through LG

We love the image quality and immersive feeling that a decent 3D TV offers, but however good the TVs are, the plastic 3D glasses always feel a little low rent. If you put style (or at least fashion) above all else, you’ll like the latest offering from Giles Deacon, with active specs that are as far removed from the standard NHS-spec glasses as it’s possible to get.

We’d still prefer to watch 3D images on our TVs without having to wear glasses, but as long as it’s a necessity, we’d prefer to do so without looking like we’ve bought the cheapest possible pair from the cheapest vendor. Especially considering the price of a pair of 3D glasses.

With similar thoughts in mind, LG have collaborated with designer Giles Deacon, and the resulting glasses offer an explosion of colour. They definitely won’t suit everybody, but it’s good to see that manufacturers are putting a little more effort into these things.

Titled “Giles for LG”, these glasses are designed to work with LG’s range of 3D TVs, using polarized lenses. At £30, they’re also something of a bargain. Hopefully it’ll shake up the market somewhat, as we’d like to see some style on offer when it comes to considerably more expensive active 3D glasses.
What do you think – would you prefer to wear the Giles for LG specs over a normal pair? Or would you still prefer to stick with NHS-spec black framed glasses? Leave a comment and let us know.
