Facebook Timeline goes live on Android and rest of mobile web

Facebook has been through a number of revamps over the years. Now users of the world’s most popular social-networking site are waking up to Facebook’s biggest makeover yet – Timeline – which has now hit Android phones and other mobile devices.

The new Timeline look interface gives Facebook users a new way to display their life and interactions with their friends online. Its move to mobile shows how that it’s here to stay.

Facebook Timeline is a major overhaul of the service. The most notable immediate difference is that each profile will get a customisable banner, ensuring that no two profiles will ever look the same on first glance. Facebook describes it as a unique album cover photo.

Life events, comments, photos and status updates are displayed in chronological order in boxes that differ in size according to the update in a layout resembling an online scrapbook. Photos appear larger, and the places you visit with friends are shown on a map.

Scroll down and you can see your posts and social history until the day you were born. Timeline displays headers before each new year to give a chronological account of your own personal history in Facebook’s biggest visual update.

Timeline is available now on m.facebook.com and Android phones. Have you been using Timeline? What do you think of Facebook’s biggest change? Let us know in the comments below.
