Can a £60 Nexus Android tablet stop the iPad Mini invasion?

Can a £60 Nexus Android tablet stop the iPad Mini invasion?

The seven inch tablet onslaught continues: we’ve already seen the Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD, and the Apple iPad Mini is almost certainly on the way too. But is another competitor about to undercut them all? According to one expert, Google is working on a Nexus Android tablet that’ll cost just $99 (£62).

CNET reports that industry analyst Richard Shim of NPD DisplaySearch believes that two new Nexus tablets – ones which Google oversees the software for directly – are on the way. The first will be a 10.1-inch Samsung Nexus tablet, with a super sharp 2,560×1,600 resolution display that’ll make the Retina Display iPad looks pixellated by comparison.

That’s perhaps not surprising: Samsung has spent years trying to come up with a tablet the size of the iPad that can be just as successful. But Shim also says that a $99 Nexus tablet is on the way from Google, and is due to go into production in December.

In other words, Google could start the new year with a bang, and upset Apple, which is expected to intro a low price iPad Mini of its own as soon as this month.

Would you wait for a £60 Nexus tablet over an iPad Mini? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below.
