Once again the weekend is upon us, and we’ve seen some phenomenal gadgets in the past seven days. The Eee PC Transformer has been a particular highlight, but there have been lots of announcements – such as the new Apple OS X Lion operating system – as well. Join us after the break for five of the best.
Apple OS X LionIf you’ve got a relatively recent Mac, what are you waiting for? Apple’s latest operating system – OS X Lion – is now finished and available to download from the Mac App Store. It offers over 250 changes over OS X Snow Leopard, and at under £30 for the upgrade, it’s also decent value for money.
Sony Ericsson NeoThe Sony Ericsson Neo is an excellent mid-range smartphone. It offers a smaller screen and a more compact design than the Samsung Galaxy S II or Sony Ericsson Art, but it still offers all of the important features. As such, it’s a great choice if you’re stepping up to your first smartphone.
Asus Eee PC TransformerArguably the best tablet currently on sale, and a lot more useful than Apple’s iPad 2. The Eee PC Transformer is just as good as a mini laptop as it is a tablet, and also offers excellent build quality. If you don’t need the keyboard, you can just separate the screen and carry around a tablet. It’s brilliant!
Apple MacBook AirAnother announcement that we’ve been waiting for all month, the new MacBook Air should be one of the best ultraportables on the market. It now features cutting-edge processing power, a fast Thunderbolt port, and the latest Apple OS X Lion operating system. The new range also gets backlit keyboards – just like the more expensive Pro range.
Panasonic Lumix FZ47The Lumix FZ47 looks like being an excellent bridge camera, offering a staggering 24x optical zoom to get you up close to the action. It’s also capable of shooting Full high-definition movie clips at 30fps. You’ll have to wait for a bit though, as it’s sadly not available just yet

Five for the weekend: FIFA 12 Ultimate Edition, carbon VAIO laptops and more!
It’s the weekend once again, and with lots of new announcements over the past week we’ve been sifting through the very best to find you the gadgets worth buying and the toys worth waiting for. Read on to find out more.
FIFA 12 Ultimate Edition You won’t be able to get your hands on FIFA 12 Ultimate Edition this weekend, but it’s still worth putting your name down as soon as possible for pre-order, as you’ll get some bonus features and money off when pre-ordered from Game.
Nokia X7 If you’re smartphone shopping this weekend, it could well be worth checking out the new Nokia X7. It lacks the firepower to trouble the very best smartphones, but it is likely to be affordable, packs in a decent range of features and features very distinctive styling.
Sony Ericsson Neo A mid-range Android smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Neo actually has a lot to offer for the money. Sure, it’s not quite as sexy as the Sony Ericsson Arc, but it packs in similar processing, the same operating system and an even sharper touchscreen display. If price is a factor, it’s well worth a look.
Olympus PEN E-P3 Another gadget that’s definitely worth waiting for, the PEN E-P3 isn’t on sale yet, but it offers one of the most stylish and high quality designs we’ve seen yet on a mainstream camera. There’s a range of different lenses available to suit any conditions, and it’s the perfect choice if you’re stepping up from a regular compact camera.
Sony VAIO Z Available from the end of July, if you’re in the market for a new laptop then Sony’s VAIO Z series is definitely worth waiting for. It’ll be pricey – as with previous versions – but nothing comes close to the Z when it comes to cutting-edge features in a tiny lightweight design. If you want to work on the move, it’s the laptop of choice
