Great affordable phones from China incoming

Great affordable phones from China incoming

10 most exciting new technologies coming in 2018
China is no longer the underdog when it comes to phone-making. Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi are all brands that have grown tremendously and have an original design with a lot of interesting features.

Until now, though, you could not officially buy their phones in the United States.
This will change in 2018. Huawei, the world's third largest phone maker, has confirmed that it will bring its awesome Mate 10 Pro (review here) to US carriers. AT&T will be the first one to have the Mate 10 Pro in the US.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has entered Europe in 2017 with one pilot market - Spain. The company has said that it is planning on expanding to the United States as well, but wants to arrive with a bang and is preparing itself carefully. All of this means more devices and more choice for consumers.

Tiny, cheap Acer projector launched, is perfect for movies

Every year more and more people opt for laptops over regular PCs, but portable computers will never be as good when it comes to gaming, watching movies or presentations – not least because of the physically smaller screen size. A projector is one solution, and when they’re as small and affordable as the new Acer C110, you really can take it everywhere you go.

Costing just £199 when it hits the shops at the end of this month, the new Acer C110 pico projector is one of the smallest projectors on the market. Measuring in at 110×85 x 25mm, it’s little bigger than some smartphones, and is capable of projecting an 854×480-pixel image.

Granted, there are much sharper projectors on the market, but if you just want a simple gadget to watch the occasional movie on the big screen, or carry out a quick presentation, then this projector’s budget price makes it well worth a look.

Using DLP technology, the C110’s bulb lasts for a claimed 20,000 hours, and you won’t even need a power cable, with the tiny projector getting all it needs via a USB cable.

Cut-priced Samsung Galaxy launched

The Samsung Galaxy S II is already on target to become the most popular Android smartphone ever, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung from releasing other handsets. The company announced the Samsung Galaxy Z last week, providing a cheaper way to get your hands on a large Android smartphone.
With prices starting at around £100 less than the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Samsung Galaxy Z still offers plenty for your money. You’ll find a large 4.2-inch LCD display, boasting a resolution of 800×480 pixels.

As with its big brother, the Samsung Galaxy Z will run Android 2.3, powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor. Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS, with a middle of the road 5-megapixel camera in place. There’s 8GB of storage, with support for up to 32GB via microSD card.

Although it’s not quite as glamorous as the Samsung Galaxy S, offering all the same functionality at a cheaper price it’s bound to be a popular choice for those on a tighter budget. Which would you go for – the Samsung Galaxy S II or the Samsung Galaxy Z?
