Phonepad: Turn your Samsung smartphone into a tablet and console!

Phonepad: Turn your Samsung smartphone into a tablet and console!

Yes, the Phonepad. Not to be confused with the Asus Fonepad, relative unknown EICUS has got a brand new gizmo for you Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 owners that will transform your phone into a whopping 10.1-inch tablet with the help of a clever dock. Who needs an iPad?

Merging the two worlds of phones and tablets, the Phonepad lets you control your S2 or S3 as if it’s a tablet by simply docking it. Pop it in and voilĂ , your phone’s screen is mirrored on the larger 10-inch display turning into a makeshift tablet/netbook.

There’s no need for any extra data plans as you can use your phone’s data connection to get your internet fix, all on a larger screen. The display can be swivelled around so you can share what’s on screen with friends, or you can angle it so you can get your gaming on with the bundled PlayStation-style controller.

When your phone is docked in the Phonepad, it can also charge it up if you’re running low on juice and the Phonepad itself can run for eight-hours. The Phonepad comes in two different flavours, one for the Galaxy S2 and one for the Galaxy S3, but both are priced at £149.99 and will hit shops in July.

Reckon this is a must-have accessory for your Galaxy phone, or are you holding out for a real tablet? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3: Giant full HD Android tablet on the way!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3: Giant full HD Android tablet on the way!

It looks like the Galaxy train isn’t stopping with the Samsung Galaxy S4, as the South Korean manufacturer is set to update its Galaxy Tab range with a full HD successor to the Galaxy Tab 2. Nexus what now?

According to Sammobile’s sources, Samsung is going all out with a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, and is expected to unveil it in Berlin during the IFA trade show in September along with the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung is aiming its next-gen premium tablet squarely at the likes of Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z and the Apple iPad, and will reportedly bring a super sharp full HD display into the mix, making the iPad mini look grainy and out of date by comparison.

Last year’s Samsung-built Nexus 10 also packed in a super-high res display, and it looks like the company means to continue the trend with its next-gen tablet which will be toting either a 10.1” or a surprisingly large 11.6” screen.

You need plenty of horsepower to run that many pixels at once, and if Sammobile’s sources prove accurate, the Galaxy Tab 3 won’t disappoint: the slate will come packing Sammy’s speedy Exynos 5 processor, which is also set to power the Galaxy Note 3. If the Nexus 10 is anything to go by, you can expect Samsung’s next tablet to take on the best that Apple and Asus have to offer.

Are you looking forward to Samsung’s premium tablet killer, or are you happy with your current tablet? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
