Max Payne 3 takes gaming top spot from Diablo 3

Max Payne 3 takes gaming top spot from Diablo 3

Max Payne 3 from Rockstar Games has shot to the top of the UK charts in its first week on sale, beating fellow new release Diablo 3, and pushing last week’s number one Sniper Elite V2 down the charts. Read on to check out the most popular games in the UK this past week.

Max Payne 3 beat Diablo 3 to the top by just 8,000 copies. The second-placed Diablo 3 became the 12th fastest-selling PC game in the UK ever, outselling the previous two Football Manager games. The majority of Max Payne 3 sales went to Xbox 360 (58 per cent compared to 42 per cent for PS3).

Former number one FIFA Street finds itself at four, followed by Prototype 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at position seven. Modern Warfare 3 enjoyed a 21 per cent increase in sales on last week, possibly due to the after effect of the recently unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 trailer. It appears gamers are getting excited about Call of Duty all over again.

The rest of the top ten has a familiar look to it, with Battlefield 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games propping up the chart.

Next week’s top ten is likely to see a few changes, with Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma, Codemaster’s DiRT Showdown and THQ’s WWE ’12 Wrestlemania Edition all out in stores this Friday.

The current UK top ten game are as follows:

1. Max Payne 3

2. Diablo 3

3. FIFA Street

4. Sniper Elite V2

5. FIFA 12

6. Prototype 2

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

8. Battlefield 3

9. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

10. Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games

Battlefield 3 fastest selling FPS of all time?

Battlefield 3 fastest selling FPS of all time?

Battlefield 3 fastest selling FPS of all time?

Battlefield 3 is winning hearts and minds at a staggering rate. Not only has the FPS hit the top spot in it’s first week of release, EA is also estimating that it will hit five million copies sold within his first week on sale. So, could this be the fastest selling FPS game of all time? It’s early days yet but EA is certainly happy with the results.

There seems to be no bigger market right now than the scorched earth of the FPS with both Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 fighting it out for your loyalty and you wallet this Christmas. Electronic Arts, the company being Battlefield 3, has certainly got its spin-doctors in place as the company has announced that it is the fastest selling game in the history of EA games.

EA went on to say that ‘Battlefield 3 has sold through five million units in the first week globally, making it the fastest-selling game in EA’s history’, which is 50 per cent of its initial retail shipments , which is pretty impressive.

It’s not just the single-player game that has proven a success as it seems gamers are logging on online in unprecedented numbers and while servers were put to the test, EA is quoting that servers and service uptime stabilised to roughly 98.9 per cent throughout the weekend.

It comes as no surprise that Battlefield 3 has already kicked, scratched and shot its way to the No.1 position in the UK All Formats Chart, pushing last weeks big seller, Batman: Arkham City, down into second place, and dropping the footballing titles FIFA 12 and Football Manager 2012 down to a more mid-table level. Just Dance 3 rounds out the top five chart for this week.

So, are you already playing Battlefield 3? Does it have the chops to beat Modern Warfare 3? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.

Top 5 games coming out this month!

Top 5 games coming out this month!

Although it may seem like just another month, today marks the release of several impressive games titles. Including the excellent Gears of War 3, and with Fifa 12 following hot on its heels next week, it’s a great time to be a gamer.

Gears of War 3 It’s Gears of War 3 that we’re the most excited about. When we reviewed it last week, we came to the conclusion that “Gears of War 3 is a blast from start to finish. If the epic single player won’t keep fans coming back, the multiplayer modes definitely will. If ever a game was a must buy, this is it”. Released to the public today, if you haven’t bought it already, it’s definitely worth popping to the shops!

Child of Eden Available for the Microsoft Kinect, Child of Eden also hits the shops today. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before, with players navigating “a kaleidoscopic playground of colour and music, using their hands or a controller en-route to preserving the world of Eden”.

Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil needs no introduction, with this horror series proving incredibly popular over the past decade. This is the fourth iteration, and it hits the shops today!

F1 2011 If you prefer sports games to fighting, F1 2011 could well be worth a look. It launches in the US today, and hits the shops over here in two days. With updated teams, better graphics and smoother gameplay, it’s a must for F1 fans.

FIFA 12 Granted, you’ll have to wait a few days until FIFA 12 is released on the 30th September, but it’s another game we can’t wait for. As with F1 2011, you’ll find updated teams, players, better graphics and even better gameplay. You’ll even have the extra week to save up!

Top 5 games worth getting excited about!

One of the great things about gaming, is the fact there’s always a load of new titles on the horizon. This year, in the run up to Christmas, there’s more than usual to get exited about. From Batman to Gears of War, join us to see the games worth getting exited about
.
F1 2011Previous F1 titles have been outstanding for fans of the sport, offering staggeringly good graphics, realistic physics and fully licensed teams and drivers. Take on the 2011 season, and make a better job of it than Hamilton’s currently managing! F1 2011 is set to launch in September.

Gears of War 3Gears of War 3 is another title set to launch in September, and it’s one of the most hotly anticipated games of the last few years. Over 800,000 of you have already pre-ordered the shoot-em-up, and last month it was the most pre-ordered game in the world!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Nothing is capable of cheering us up quite like a good war game, with the ability to take your frustrations out on people from around the world. Call of Duty is back again for yet another iteration in the form of Modern Warfare, and is set to launch in November. We can easily imagine it being the biggest game of the year.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2It’s no surprised to see Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 in the most wanted list, as previous versions of Batman have been excellent fun and best sellers in their own right. Now you get the chance to take on the prison island of Arkham, in a thriller that will be released in September.

Battlefield 3Another huge title, Battlefield 3 is set to launch in October this year. It’s a first-person shooter that offers excellent multi-player gaming, with a host of different game modes depending on where you’re playing on your own or online with other people. If it’s anything like as good as previous Battlefield titles, we can’t wait.
