Owen winner gives manchester United friendly win over Barcelona FC

Michael Owen scored a 76th-minute winner as Manchester United beat European champions Barcelona 2-1 in a pre-season friendly in Washington DC.

In front of nearly 82,000 fans Nani put United ahead in the 22nd minute.

Barcelona, without Lionel Messi, equalised in the 70th minute with a stunning strike from Thiago Alcantara.

Owen latched on to a pass from Tom Cleverley to score the winner as United end their North American tour win five wins out of five.

Owen Tweeted after the game: "As normal with Barca, opposing striker hardly gets a touch! That was the case today! Thankfully I scored but I missed a sitter late on too."

Royal couple stop traffic on arrival in Los Angeles

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Los Angeles for a whirlwind weekend trip to California.

Local media tracked the royal couple's arrival, care of the Canadian Air Force.

Their tour will take them from trade receptions and Hollywood glitz to the poverty of Skid Row.
